Winches

Mooring Winches and Capstans

Mooring winches are an essential part of a ship for docking.

The design and execution are strictly in accordance with the mooring requirements of the ship. The winches can be supplied with single or multiple drums. The mooring winch is usually equipped with a warping head and often combined with an anchor winch.

Brusselle mooring winches are available in a wide range of versions, with pulling forces ranging from 50 kN to 500 kN.

Various automation and remote control functions can also be included.

Swell, tides, and wind require regular adjustments to the length of the mooring lines. This can be done manually or automatically, with the force remaining constant and the drum continuously connected to the motor. The force on the cable is set to the desired torque from the bridge. Despite constant tension, wind forces can still cause the ship to drift.

Option CT:
‘Constant Tensioning’

Mooring winch pulling force:
5 to 50 Tons

Capstan pulling force:
4 to 30 Tons

Capstans

Capstans are used for towing loads, guiding a ship into the lock, mooring, etc. Capstans, mainly consisting of a warping head and a drive, are used on board or ashore. Operation is simple: haul, veer, emergency stop.

We can supply electric or hydraulic capstans with a nominal pulling force of 4 to 300 kN.

In addition to the standard vertical range, we can also design and supply horizontal versions, as well as more specialized models. Planetary-type capstans are also available.
